Major upgrades to Slocan Park

Help the VUL show our support for field upgrades!

Every 4 years the Park Board allocates money for major projects in their 4-year Capital Plan. This includes building new fields and upgrading existing ones.

In the previous and current capital plans, money was allocated to significantly upgrade grass fields a few parks. With the help of the Vancouver Field Sports Federation (of which the VUL is an active member), Slocan Park was selected as one of the sites.

Changes in Slocan Park

The upgrades are significant! They are converting three grass fields from B grade (or worse) to A grade.

This includes adding drainage and irrigation to all three fields, and fencing for soccer at the ends of the fields.

  • Slocan Centre (upper field) will be 90 x 48 m
  • Slocan SW (lower field) will be 110 x 64 m
  • Slocan East area (which we don't use yet) will have 3 small mini fields, but combined should allow for 1 ultimate field.

Your Support

The VPB is hosting an Open House at Slocan Park from 10am - 1pm this coming Saturday, June 8, to get feedback on the planned upgrades at that park.

If you can, we encourage you to stop by Slocan in the morning. Say thanks for the upgrades, view the plans, and offer any feedback you may have.

Then head to the Art Hawkins Learnament for the afternoon!  It starts at 12pm - preregistration is required.

As always, if you have any suggestions or comments, please let us know via contact@vul.ca
