Spring Tournaments

Tournaments are a great way to improve your skills, form stronger bonds with teammates and make new friends. More importantly, they are a ton of fun! Tournaments are what get a lot of players hooked on the sport and community. There are a few in Vancouver, but several occur in other ultimate communities around the province.

Here’s a list of tourneys for Spring 2015. If you are the organizer of a tournament you’d like to be included in this article, get in touch with our Marketing Manager.


March Madness

Date

Sunday March 22nd 10am - 2:30pm

Location

Vancouver – Columbia Fields

Format

Hat tournament format for women only. All players are randomly assigned to a team and everyone registers as an individual.  Goaltimate is played 4 on 4 with a "sub on the fly" format.

This tournament is in its’ 14th year. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will be split between Traffic Ultimate and CLICK foundation. Traffic is a competitive womens’ ultimate touring team. CLICK is a non profit foundation aimed at helping inner city children and youth in Vancouver.
 
Goaltimate is a fast paced game offering lots of throwing and catching opportunities. It's super fun, and great for skill development. All skill levels are encouraged to register and we especially welcome newer players to the game.

Registration

Cost: $15 to register per player
Deadline to register is Friday March 20 at 10 pm.
Pay at the fields. Generally if you commit to register, then you are committing to come. Bailers are frowned upon and advanced notice of the bail is appreciated.

Udderbowl

Dates

March 28-29

Location

Nanaimo, BC

Format

This is a co-ed tournament where captains register for A, B, or C pool. The focus of C pool is spirit and having fun.

The Udderbowl tournament will be held in Nanaimo, on the same sports fields as always (McGirr/Dover Bay). For $700/team you get two days of ultimate games with delicious field food, plus an awesome party on the Saturday night. The Saturday night party is at a new more central location, Pleasant Valley Hall.

Pull for Parkinson’s (High school Tournament)

Format

7 on 7 (4m:3f) tournament for high school junior, senior or mixed junior/senior teams.

Calling all high school coaches! Pull for Parkinson’s is a charity ultimate tournament geared towards high school students and teams. This tournament provides the perfect opportunity to give your team (whether brand new or well-seasoned) some experience playing against other teams in their league, to bond as team in a spirited Ultimate environment, and to help raise funds for a deserving cause! Registration

$150 per team before April 1, $200 per team after April 1. Tourney fee covers costs and field food, with the remainder donated to Parkinson Society British Columbia as a "team donation". Email pullforparkinsons@gmail.com indicating interest and an invoice with the registration fee will be emailed back connecting you to our PayPal.

Sunflicker

One of the largest Co-ed tournaments in Western Canada. Based around fantastic grass fields, great food and awesome party, Sunflicker is the penultimate in early season tournaments. For the past 5 years, we have being able to host show case games featuring Furious George, Traffic, Team Canada Open and the World Games team..

Now open. The full cost of the tournament is $70 per person which includes a minimum of 6 fabulous ulti games, field food to die for, classic Saturday afternoon bar-b-q dinner, Saturday night party at the Laurel Packinghouse on Ellis Street and camping.

Whistler 5 on 5

May 16-17 (May Long Weekend)

Whistler, BC

Format

5 on 5 (3m:2f). A, B and C pool. The goal is for every team to have as many balanced games as possible so pool formats and schedule is determined after registration ends.  

Info

The tourney has grown rapidly as many have built a new May Long weekend tradition. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful place to play ultimate, and it’s less than a 2 hour drive from Vancouver. Every player who attends the tourney gets a disc, amazing field food including lunches, and 6-7 games of fun 5 on 5 ulty.

You can opt into group accommodation at the HI Whistler – a beautiful hostel about 15 minutes away from the fields. Included in your stay are homemade breakfasts for both Saturday and Sunday!

You’ll have a blast at this tourney both on and off the field – the games, the hostel, and the parties will not disappoint.
