Status - May 28
In light of BC's new Restart Plan announced on May 25, team sports can now resume in BC!
- Adults: Plans for adult ultimate are in progress, but will likely include Practices, League, and possibly Camps. See the Adult Options article for more.
- Youth: Our Youth programs will start as planned on May 29 using the new guidelines. We'll add scrimmages and other games as restrictions ease further over the summer. Youth Clubs will announce their plans soon.
- Travel: Non-essential travel should still be avoided. Individuals are permitted to travel for sport to where they normally play.
See our COVID Resources for more about current guidelines.
Summer Plans - Our Approach
We expect the province to reopen sports in phases like they did last year:
- Camps and Practices first (these are allowed now for youth)
- Modified Leagues later.
We are monitoring provincial health orders, vaccinations, and variants. The progress on vaccines is quite promising, but the spread of variants is a concern. We encourage all VUL members to follow all health orders so we can minimize spread of the virus! Further spread is risky to everyone, and will only delay the restart of sports and other activities.
We'll decide what programs to offer as things progress. Please note our staff capacity is reduced, so we may not be able to respond quickly to changing orders, but we'll do our best.
