Supporting the VUL and our Community

Thank you again to all members for your support this year.

COVID-19 has been challenging for everyone, and we have done our best to stay open and offer activities that support the physical and mental well-being of players and their families.

The pandemic has also impacted our finances significantly. Summer season was down 90% over last year, and Fall was down about 50%. We have reduced expenses wherever possible, and are receiving government funding. We also plan to increase Winter fees to better cover our higher costs during the pandemic. However, we will need additional support until more people can return to play.

Supporting Ultimate

Here are three ways you can support the VUL during the pandemic.

Tax-Deductible Donations

DONATE

We have partnered with the BC Amateur Sport Fund to accept tax-deductible donations. The BCASF is the BC chapter of the Canadian Council of Provincial & Territorial Sport Federations, a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletics Association with charitable status. As such, you can receive a tax receipt from them for your donation. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated!

VUL Merchandise

SHOP ONLINE

We launched a new online store with BE Ultimate! Order unique VUL merch for yourself, friends, or family. You can also include a donation to increase your impact. Shipping is FREE in November! Note: a few personalized items take 4+ weeks to produce, so order soon for Christmas delivery

Capital Funds

We have a special Capital Fund to cover large one-time expenses, such as upgrades to fields, websites, and internal systems. At our Annual General Meeting, we plan to ask for membership approval to use some of the Fund to temporarily support our ongoing operations during the pandemic. The amount will be finalized later this month. If you support this option, you can attend the AGM (online) and vote in favour.

Where Will The Money Go?

Contributions will help us to:

  • Support Youth Ultimate - Ensure we can continue to deliver safe, inexpensive, and quality youth programs during the pandemic. Our costs are higher with more coaches per camp, and the subsidy from adult programs is much less right now.
  • Minimize Fee Increases - With fewer players allowed on the field, we will need to increase adult fees in the short-term to compensate. Contributions can help reduce that increase.
  • Maintain Service Levels - Our staffing is currently at 50% of normal. Funding will help us maintain basic service levels through winter, adapt quickly to any changes, and be well-positioned for summer.
  • Keep The Lights On - Help cover monthly expenses like the website.

Supporting Our Community

Many other organizations also need extra support at this time. If you feel called, you could also consider a donation to one of them!
