You may think Winter Leagues are just for the "hardcores". Well, it's more for people who can tolerate poor weather, interspersed with some good weather days too! And if you can't do that, well, there's always Indoor!
Indeed we do have some competitive leagues, but there are also plenty of options for beginners and newbies as well:
1. Winter Turf - Divisions for all levels as well as competitive players (Register Dec 14 - Jan 14)
Mondays are for all levels - teams are divided into divisions much like Summer league and you'll play teams within your division, so you could be a competitive team or a rec team. Thursday is mainly competitive and is popular for that reason. It's definitely the most competitive league in Winter. It's all 5 on 5, sub on the fly, played on turf. Register as a team. The individual registration option is available but doesn't guarantee a spot on a team - try posting on the forum. Leagues run Jan 21 - April 11. Games at Andy Livingstone, Van Tech, Memorial, Trillium
2. Winter Indoor - All skill levels. (Register Dec 14 - Jan 3 - will fill up before close)
Played on Sunday afternoons, it's a hat league! That means you register as a single, duo or trio and the VUL will place you on a team. It's also the 5 on 5 format, sub on the fly, played in a gym. League runs Jan 6 - March 24. Games at the Jewish Community Centre - 41st and Oak.
3. Winter Hat - Rec and Competitive (Register Jan 11 - 25)
Saturday or Sunday morning! Saturday is more competitive, but you
don't need to be an all star! Sunday is more rec, so that's for anyone from new to A. This is
traditional ultimate - 7 on 7 played on grass. Leagues run Feb 3 - March 31. Games at Oak Meadows, Columbia, Tisdall and Winona.
4. Juniors Turf (Register Jan 7 -20)
For youth in grades 8 - 12, played on Sunday evenings. This is a 5 on
5 hat format league, also integrating skills clinics! League runs Jan 20 - March 24. Games at
Point Grey Turf Field.
