Job: Misfit Club Team Coach

Introduction

The Misfit Ultimate program is designed for high school players looking to compete at Provincial or National Ultimate Championships.

The VUL is looking for energetic coaches to lead and inspire this year's group of talented players!

Duties

The season runs from May to August. There are typically about 10 teams and 2-3 coaches per team.

Coaches are responsible for:

  • Working with the Coordinators to run tryouts and manage player selection;
  • Development of their players at weekly practices, including planning, executing, and evaluating a plan for their team;
  • Leading and supporting their team at 2-4 tournaments over the summer;
  • Acting as a chaperone for their team during any out-of-town travel.

If you coach a team that goes to Canadian Ultimate Championships, you will be expected to be available to travel to that event.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong interest in developing the game of ultimate with youth
  • Strong ultimate skills, including solid understanding of SOTG
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Agree to a Code of Conduct and complete a criminal record check.

Desired 

  • Experience with teaching and/or coaching children (e.g. youth leader in community programs)
  • NCCP or USAU coaching certifications 
  • First aid certification
  • Experience playing at the provincial or national level

Also note teams are single gender and at least one coach must be the same gender as the team.

Term

  • April to August. 
  • There will be a small stipend in addition to having expenses covered.
