Make walking, cycling, and public transit preferred transportation options…provide incomparable access to green spaces…enjoy the best drinking water of any major city in the world…lead the world in green building design and construction...
These are just some of the goals Vancouver wants to meet in order to become the greenest city in the world by 2020. And your organization’s innovative idea could help make that goal a reality.
Starting today, community organizations with green project ideas have an opportunity to apply for up to $50,000 through the Greenest City Community Grants program. The program is co-partnered by Vancouver Foundation and the City of Vancouver through the Greenest City Fund.
A tool and equipment sharing cooperative, a waste reduction challenge event among local businesses, or a food scrap recycling educational program for new immigrant communities -- these are a few of the kinds of green projects that could be considered for a Greenest City Community Grant.
The Greenest City Community Grants program is open to registered charitable organizations whose projects take place in Vancouver and address one or more of the Greenest City 2020 Action Plan goals. Submissions for project proposals can be made until Friday, September 14th, 2012.
