Analysis of Policies to Reduce Oil Consumption and Greenhouse-Gas Emissions from the U.S. Transportation Sector

key finding:
- The only truly effective policy to get people out of their cars is taxing gas...taxing it A LOT.
- With aggressive policies, gross GDP is reduced by less than 1% compared to the BAU scenario.
And, the most scary - none of the tested policy scenarios will help the Obama admin meet its target of 14% less GHGs by 2020, short of huge amounts of carbon offset purchases.
