Terasen Gas: Fixed rate or not?

We just had our metres replaced yesterday and the dude suggested we signed up for the 5-year fixed-rate agreement. I'm not sure how to look at this new change. Anyone have any ideas/opinions? (A rhetorical question, I know seeing as how I'm on the politics forum).

Gas rates go up - you win
Gas rates go down - you lose

You have to make your best estimate of which way they are going to go....but know that the company selling it to you is pricing it based up on years of research and the estimates of people who know alot more about gas supply and pricing than you ......so if you think you are getting a great deal then you may want to reconsider.

It is more about stability of price and how imprtant it is to you that your gas bill be 'stable'. I quote stable as it you gas usage will vary throughout the year so your bill will fluctuate seasonally anyway regardless of the price of the gas.

I personally think it is a waste of time and your efforts would be better spent in reducing your consumption (knit some sweaters).
