The catch is you need to be 48+. Read on for a message from organizers of the Currier Island teams.
WGGMBUC is a tournament for players 48 years old and older (i.e. anyone born in 1969 or earlier). It's Beach Worlds for the Great GrandMasters (GGM) age group. Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WGGMBUC/
Arrivals and registration day is Saturday June 17. Game days are Sunday through Wednesday, June 18 - 21. There will be parties on the evenings of arrivals day and on finals day.
All other divisions (Open, Mixed Masters, Grand Masters, etc.) are playing Beach Worlds at Royan, France, this June. Because there wasn't room enough left on the beach at Royan, and GGM Division was late to the party, WFDF asked us to host our tournament elsewhere, so we're playing it on a beautiful beach next to a natural area 40 km south of Lisbon, Portugal. It's a place called Praia do Meco, not far from the town of Sesimbra. https://goo.gl/maps/oV6ZwRztzTG2
WGGMBUC will include National teams playing at WGGMBUC, including all-star teams from USA and Canada, plus Austria, Germany, Sweden, and UK.
It will also include three Currier Island teams. ["Currier Island" is the name of a fake island - the team was formed to allow others to play at worlds.] This year's CI teams include a Currier Island Europe team and two Currier Island Americas teams (composed of a mix of US and Canadian players, plus the odd Mexican or Venezuelan if we can find any of GGM age).
Last week organizers of the Americas teams started to look for GGM players to recruit to the second of the Currier Island Americas team. They could be competitive at the tournament; it all depends who joins.
