Before You Register

Age Requirement for Adult Programs

Players are typically 19 or older. Players under 19 can participate in an adult league only if they turn 17 before December 31 of the year in question AND parental consent is received by the VUL before the league starts (see section on consent below).

Team Captains must be 19 years or older at the time of registration.

Consent and Conduct Agreements

All participants must create a MyVUL account and agree to the Player Consent Agreements before participating in any games or clinics. Those Agreements include a declaration that you are at least 19 years of age OR that you have parental consent if you are under 19.

For those under 19, parental consent can be provided in two ways:

  • When a youth participant creates an account, they are asked for their parent's email address. We then send a request to the parent to provide parental consent online.
  • If the parent can't provide consent online, they can submit a Parental Waiver & Consent form. Forms must be scanned & emailed to lm@vul.ca for adult programs.

These consent forms are sent out automatically through your MyVUL account when you are added to a roster or sign up individually for a program.

Program Types

Captains and Players must have a basic understanding of what type of program they are registering for.  Please check out our League Formats and Structure page for a complete description of our competition-based programs. Understanding these differences will help determine the number of players you might want to recruit for your team.

Program Regulations

Captains and Players must also be aware of the VUL Regulations that are in place for all of our competition-based programs. These regulations are in place to create a safe and positive experience for everyone involved with our programs.

League Rules

Many of our Programs have different rules. Please check out our Rules Page for a complete listing of the general rules of Ultimate and the exceptions for specific programs. There are also resources to help you understand and apply the rules more effectively.
