Royals Adult Touring Team

Overview

At Royals, we’re rooted in the Richmond community and are dedicated to empowering our members with the skills and opportunities essential for growth. As a Reign Ultimate team, we’re all about building community through sport and creating connections that last long after the final point is scored. We do this through creating accessible programs, establishing strong team cultures, and promoting excellence in Richmond.

With Royals Mixed, you’ll represent Richmond on the national stage as we compete at the Canadian Ultimate Championships in Ottawa, ON. The summer season runs from April to August, including tryouts, practices, and tournaments. Practices are three nights weekly in Richmond.

Coaching Staff

Yu Chi Lin (he/him) has roots in Richmond, with junior playing experience at McMath Secondary, Alpha BC, and Richmond Savage —bringing the team to a 4th place finish at CUC 2018. More recently, he’s played with elite teams including Team Canada, UBC Thunderbirds, and Furious George. Yu Chi is a coaching coordinator at the VUL, and dedicates his time to training new coaches, equipping them with the skills and expertise to develop the next generation of ultimate players.

Alex Yang (he/him) is making a return to coaching ultimate after winning BC provincials with Hamber Secondary in 2016 (junior), 2017 (senior), and 2018 (senior). An alumnus of the Misfit program, Alex has also coached Richmond Savage 2018 — leading the team to a top four finish in Canada. As a coach, he strives to help athletes grow on and off the field to reach their full potential as individuals, and to build a community that goes beyond Ultimate.
